Roger Nelson - Founder
Roger
Nelson founded MotionWerx, a California company that has aggregated
best of breed motion capture technologies,
services and development projects. MOTIONWERX is the exclusive US
distributor of the technologies from the industry leading mocap
specialists at Animazoo including the IGS-190, the world's first
inertial gyroscopic motion capture system. Nelson is currently integrating
motion capture technologies for a wide range of applications including
research, ergonomic studies, workplace analysis, entertainment,
interactive real time characters, telepresence and previsualization.
Nelson is also involved in the development of animation pipelines
and immersive environments that leverage artificial intelligence,
3D stereoscopic display technologies, game engines, tracking technologies,
a novel omni-directional treadmill and next generation studio production
technologies.
Prior
to founding MOTIONWERX Nelson focused on the development of technologies
for Entertainment, Immersive Simulation, Education, and Training
at Kerner Optical Research and Development (KORD). KORD was the
Research and Development team formed in association with the spin
off of Kerner Optical from Industrial Light + Magic in 2006.
Previously,
as Chief Science Officer, Nelson was involved in the creation of
immersive experiences for Jordan Weisman's and Tim Disney's Virtual
World Entertainment Centers featuring Battletech, and as well as
the first Q-Zar Laser tag arenas in the US. Nelson Co-Founded Vuppet,
creating unique human input devices for the video game industry
and has over twenty-eight years of experience in entrepreneurial
ventures as a founder, principal or advisor with expertise in the
areas of Virtual Reality, Education, Multimedia Entertainment, Displays,
Wireless Sensor networks, Artificial Intelligence and Serious Games,
resulting in numerous personal contacts in the interactive entertainment
industry.
